The new team of the Voyageurs de BAMBOO ORCHESTRA is compound of young
percussionist musicians able to play very different repertoires. In this
show, they developed the visual aspect integrating the motion. They put
in space and motion some of their compositions, exploiting bamboo's shapes
and sonorities. |

… The festival has been intelligently installed, the programming
direction take in the regional musical resources the opening bands'exotism.
Makoto Yabuki, with an engineer formation has created a forest of instruments
with natural virtues, exclusively planned with bamboo. In Marseille since
1994, he set workshops and this Longchamp's stage gave an original projection
to him, the possibility of coming to the meeting of a public much larger
than the only Japanese culture fans. Saturday night, "les Voyageurs
de Bamboo Orchestra" began by a percussive avalanche. In the center
of the stage, they attack in a heart beat whidh goes crescendo, the master
and his four companions scans enigmatic syntagms in proportion as the shocks
become more and more powerful. They go on and finish in unison behind thunders
of applause. Clearly the public picks up this strange energy and hasn't
been disapointed by this rough sound, as the exhortation and the gathering
of energies would be convoked to a same organic point. This initial thunder reduplication is just an introduction, then the musical pieces played better correspond to the idea we have about quiet mornings' exquisite luxuriance. And we have been readily guided by Makoto and his flute, as the God Pan, installing a rapturous climate in which the melodic wind-instrument with a pure sound is brought by the aquatic and fluted bass used by his assistants who control curious xylophones or balafons. These sweet and strange resonances evoke zen gardens and their wealth springs with lukewarm steams in the frozen mountain… |
