With him, things go all over the place.
To have Jerome Bourgeix's path coincide a graphic designer's who
would have chosen a glorious career in the advertising world,
is a contortionist's feat...From sets for parties, to experimental
projections of cartoons or improvisations of electronic music,
his circle of friends provides him with a playing field early
on.
For his BA, he improvised a wild sound installation in front of
the jury, based on the same principles of tinkering used for the
parties, with a projector as his only performance partner.
After graphic design school (the only concession made to life)
follows a set for a film short, a lightning stint in the press
and two experiences in creation, between Paris and Marseille
|
Free as the wind, with the wild's call urging him on. "I
have roots everywhere", he explains. Seven years of his
life spent in Indonesia, family in the four corners of the world,
and home in Marseille:
" It's a port, there's this notion of departure",
he argues. Always between two oceans, two practices, sound and
image, inseparable according to him. " Music is a strong
source of inspiration: from traditional to jazz, but I always
come back to trance". His work reflects this curiosity,
this insatiable desire to try new things: photo, collages, drawings,
matter...without forgetting a touch of the absurd.
Between two jobs, Jerome Bourgieux creates unsolicited posters,
for real events that never see the day beyond his tiny studio.
