Marie-Jo Long is a girl always on the go, undoubtedly owing to optimism.
Besides, hardly a moment goes by without her finding something amusing or great.
Like putting herself in the skin of a marionette, an articulated figure in rubber, for films shot frame by frame: a day spent miming six or seven seconds...In what is just one among many experiences, she uses her body to recreate the illusion as precisely as possible. It must be mentioned that this film-maker crazy about animation is also -and it comes as no surprise- a lover of contemporary dance, rhythm, and movement in and of itself. In her first film, she was the one dancing, and whenever she gets the chance, she combines both disciplines.
"For example, one can play at transforming or defying the effects of the earth's gravity."

It's a wonderful research lab. She qualifies her effects as archaic, which allow her to create peculiar tensions and momentums, for choreography imagined for and by the camera. When she's solicited by the advertising world, she speaks of ethnological experiments; Marie-Jo long prefers a more handcrafted, last-minute approach (but where she chooses her team) which spawns a glamorous world touched up on Photoshop, troubled by the hustle and bustle and cheap icons. A world taken over by the derogatory and appearances.
She says: "One must at least try to describe what one can't change. If that isn't optimistic..."
