An excerpt from a poem by Cyrille Martinez, writer and lover of deviated slogans and stereotypes.
He explains: " I'm trying to provide a re-reading of elements drawn from collective reading. The passive consumer then becomes the active, and therefore critical, reader ".
The "capitalist dream", the illusion of the best of all worlds " and the machine's denial of death are so many recurring themes in his texts. They were already present in his first novel, floating beneath the surface. A banal situation: the young graduate, an aspiring librarian, is unemployed. He writes nice letters like everyone else, telling of his motivation, in a style he qualifies as " mechanical, hypocritical, and alienating (because one has to sell oneself like a product) ". An unbearable activity: he ends up writing fiction.
And produces "Ne pas jeter sur la voie publique" (Do not litter), a kind of conceptual down-and-out road movie, in which an individual lives in his car. Condemned to drifting because no one will shelter him, he constantly brushes up against a world where space is private, protected, sterilized, and exclusive. A mere captor in a world crossed by flows, he's also shaken up by all that the destabilizing things the contemporary city secretes for the senses.
The text is also startling in its form, progressing by numbered tracks, like a CD.
