In May 2006, Les Grandes Tables opened at la Friche. It's a restaurant that is also a meeting place, sharing food and culture and food for thought.


More than just a restaurant, Les Grandes Tables is a genuine, creative laboratory. The idea is that cuisine can spark culture in a convivial, accessible atmosphere. The restaurant marries the everyday and the extraordinary, implements innovative, festive initiatives, builds bridges between professionals and amateurs, from here there and everywhere.

The team at Les Grandes Tables has spread the news in other cultural venues (le Channel in Calais and la Criée in Marseille) and pop-ups venues (l'île Seguin, the J1 during Marseille-Provence 2013, the restaurant de la Chartreuse in Avignon in 2012), but it is still driven by the same objectives. The ever-increasing controversy surrounding the food industry, the growing number of essays and documentaries on junk food and malnutrition, the new fashion for ‘chefs artistes', and the success of cookery programmes on TV, are proof of the importance of the challenges of the food industry in terms of politics, health, the environment and the art of cuisine.

Sunday: 12 – 2 pm (closed on sundays until August 21st)
Opening times on performance nights.
For shows starting at 8 pm, you can eat up to 1 hour before the end of the performance.

On the programme

Le marché paysan


Chacun peut venir s'approvisionner à la Friche auprès de petits producteurs de la région, qui proposent des produits biologiques ou traditionnels. Ce marché paysan regroupe des maraîchers (fruits et légumes), un éleveur (volailles), des producteurs de fromages (brousse et petits chèvres frais, mozzarella), des apiculteurs (miel), un boulanger (large choix de pains)…
