Triangle France is a non-profit association (1901 law) devoted to contemporary art. It aims to promote the French and international contemporary art scene, through a programme of demanding, experimental residencies, exhibitions, performances, publishing and producing new works.

Triangle France supports the realisation and dissemination of new artistic practices and is committed to building a dynamic relationship between artists on the local and international art scenes.

Since it was launched in 1995, Triangle France has proved to be one of the most innovative French associations on the visual arts scene, providing support to artists at the start of their careers. Triangle France supports up-coming artists and artists with little exposure in France to develop, produce and promote their projects and take their work onto the next level.

The residency programme is at the heart of what they do, inviting 9 – 12 artists to Marseille every year. It also allows young French artists to go on residencies abroad with partner organisations. Our programme aims to accompany artists with their projects – be it in the first stages of conception or the final stages of realisation – offering the public access to their research and current issues in art today.

On the programme

For his first solo exhibition in a French institution, Paul Maheke calls in OOLOI, a third gender figure from Xenogenesis, Octavia Butler's sci-fi trilogy published in the late 1980s. This project is a new step in his ongoing research on representations of marginalized subjectivities in the Western imagination and on the possibility of considering history through a non-human or invisible subjectivity or corporeality.

Venue : 3rd floor From June 30 to September, 2019 A proposition by Triangle France
