Situated at the foot of the Tower, the Salle des machines, the Friche's cafe-bookshop space, has books galore (art books, graphic novels, cookery books, children's literature) light snacks to eat in or take away, and also holds regular events and exhibitions.

Books for all tastes
The bookshop stocks books that reflect the programming and shows held at the Friche. The shelves have a host of works on contemporary art and urban culture from photography, to performing arts, cuisine, graphic art and architecture…
It also has a selection on general interest: children's literature, graphic novels street art and literature.

Take a tasty break: from light lunches to tea-time treats
Since 2015, the bookshop has been extended and now has a cafe/ tearoom with a terrace on fine days. Whether you're taking a break from an exhibition, during your teens' skate class, or the little one's pop-up workshop, come and treat yourself to a hot chocolate and a choco-nut cupcake or a spot of lunch (eat in, or take away).

2-3 Thursdays a month over a drink or a bite to eat at the bar, the  Salle des Machines is a  place for discussion, imagination and conviviality, where you can talk to authors about art, literature or social questions and cuisine too…
